Taking care of a high-quality, pleasantly scented soap makes us wish it stays in top shape for as long as possible. Especially natural soaps can maintain and even enhance their quality through proper storage. Here are some tips to ensure that your natural soap doesn’t transition too soon into the proverbial soap opera ‘From Firmness to Slime Soup’:
- Quality over quantity: A key factor is having a high-quality natural soap. Poorly processed soaps dissolve faster, become crumbly, and appear dull.
- A touch of nostalgia: Let’s harken back to Grandma’s wisdom. Place the soap among your laundry, especially if it’s a fragrant variant like lavender soap. This not only protects against moths but also imparts additional firmness and better lathering to the soap.
- After the act with water: Once the soap is in use, it’s crucial that it can dry well after contact with water. Use a soap dish with drainage. Ideally, the contact area between soap and dish should be minimal to avoid unsightly marks on the sink.
- Vacation trick: For travel, where often only a soap dish without drainage is available, divide the natural soap into small pieces and use only one. The remaining pieces can patiently wait for their turn in your luggage.
- An additional tip: Soap pieces easily pass through airport security. Practical drying bag: Particularly outside the bathroom, a bag for drying the natural soap comes in handy. Hang it up to ensure the soap stays clean and dry, be it in the stable, during hiking, or in the workshop.
- Smart soap bag: The bag is also practical for collecting small soap remnants and using them without slipping until the last bit. This way, no piece of the high-quality soap goes to waste.
